Kimpton CC News story

KCC Invincibles......end of season update

03 Oct 2020

The match reports on Teamo and the website give the detail of each fixture but it's worthwhile noting what a cracking year this was for KCC overall. Whilst the C-thing certainly took its toll on our daily lives Sunday afternoon cricket provided an extremely welcome return to the almost normal. In a remarkable run of eight wins in eight matches KCC drew upon on the resources of a broad base of players with 23 taking the field and various others who offered availability being unable to squeeze into the match day team.

In the 8 matches Kimpton scored a total of 1,444 runs @35.21 and took 75 wickets @14.24 taking 38 catches in the process - the stats are fantastic but fall short of telling the full story of the commitment and camaraderie which underpinned our on-field and off-field activities. It was a joy to be involved.

Having secured much of the required funding to fully renovate the square and to install an artificial wicket we instructed contractors to undertake the work in  late September and are pleased to update you that the green shoots of recovery are already making an appearance. The club is braced for further development as it adopts a change of legal structure to incorporate as a company limited by guarantee and a development plan is close to finalisation. We will update with news on that and on dates for the presentation evening and other events in due course.
